The “Arca d’Argento” (The silver ark) is a prize awarded to the Contrada (district) that presents the best historical parade on the Sunday of Bravìo. Some of the selection criteria concern the bearing of the individual figures and the historical coherence of the entire parade. The creation of this archive stems from the desire to highlight the work of the volunteers involved and the districts that every year are committed to creating the best historical parade.

The search for the various winners was not easy. The sources used were:

  1.  The documentation deposited by Diego Mancuso at the Municipal Library on the theme Bravìo

  2. The book “Il Bravìo delle Botti di Montepulciano”, edited by the Poliziana Historical Society, published by Salvietti & Barabuffi Editori in 2014.

  3. Direct testimonies based on the memory of the Contrade and of the figures themselves.

Despite the few years that passed, it was not easy to collect the information and often those found were in conflict with each other. Since it is a constantly updated archive, we are consequently open to a discussion with anyone who is aware of inaccuracies in the archive.

The search for the various winners, as for the Trabalzini prize, was not easy
