A new edition of “Calici di Stelle” – namely “Glasses of Stars” – will take place on Wednesday, August 10th, on St. Lawrence night. During this yearly evening appointment, it will be possible to appreciate both Red and Nobile di Montepulciano wine in a peculiar scheme of wine tasting.

The eight contrade – Cagnano, Collazzi, Le Coste, Gracciano, Poggiolo, San Donato, Talosa and Voltaia – will be open, allowing to dine in their headquarters: kitchens will be fully functioning and everyone will have the chance to sit and enjoy typical products of Tuscan tradition, as an anticipation of the events that will animate our town during the last week of August.

The organization of the event is carried out, as per tradition, by “Strada del Vino Nobile” and “Sapori della Valdichiana Senese”, which will set up wine tasting stations along the old town streets. The “Gruppo Sbandieratori e Tamburini di Montepulciano” will open the event at 18:00 with a parade starting from Colonna del Marzocco and ending in Piazza Grande, where a medieval flag and drums show will be performed. After dinner, the town will also be animated by music and live shows.

“We are delighted to be able to renew our commitment to this wonderful event that promotes the culture of healthy and responsible drinking. – Says Giulio Pavoloucci, head of the board of the Magistrato delle Contrade – Calici di stelle has finally become an institutional appointment of Montepulciano’s summer events. It is now a yearly appointment that strengthens the intrinsic union of the Bravìo delle Botti and the oenological excellence of Montepulciano’s Nobile Wine.

After the event held in Piazza Grande last Sunday, August 7th, when the little flag wavers and drummers performed on their very own contest, Montepulciano’s summer is now unrestrainable. After the victory of Collazzi’s kids for the Junior category and the triumph of San Donato’s teens for the Senior one, the Contrade are now preparing for the most eventful week of the year. Events will start on Saturday 20th August with the “Proclama del Gonfaloniere” and will end on Sunday, August 28th with the awaited barrel race along the old town streets.
