Historical parades, barrel rehearsals and a brand-new graphical artwork: Montepulciano is getting ready for the Bravìo delle Botti 2022. The long season of summer events has already started in Montepulciano and the Magistrato delle Contrade is already working to finalize the program of the 2022 edition of the Bravio delle Botti, an edition which finally gets back to normal after two years of covid-related limitations.
The Magistrato delle Contrade has in fact announced important “homecomings” for this year’s edition, which will take place from the 19th to the 28th August. The historical parades of the eight Contrade will finally parade again along the beautiful streets of Montepulciano. The Corteo dei Ceri, organized to celebrate the candle offer to St. John the beheaded, will finally walk through the suggestive town streets that will only be lit by torches. On Sunday, the historical parade will also be back with more than 300 people such as “gonfalonieri”, “alfieri”, ladies and lords, drummers and flag-wavers.
Moreover, the nocturnal rehearsal of barrel pushers will take place over the week of events, allowing rumors over the alleged winners to begin. Finally, on Friday 19th August “Cantine in Piazza” will welcome you in the picturesque “Piazza Grande” with suggestive live music and delicious wine tasting.
The news about the 2022 edition was launched together with the renewed graphic design of the Bravìo: a brand-new artwork developed by the graphic designer Michele Bettollini. With his work, Bettollini wanted to convey every detail of the historical parade: clothes, accessories and gestures aimed at describing the atmosphere that will finally animate the town streets. Bettollini’s choice was that of using flat colors for the background, so that the eight districts could all have the same balance. In addition to the iconic moments represented in his work, Bettollini also wanted to honor the small details of Montepulciano which come to life during the historical parade.
There’s an enthusiastic atmosphere in Montepulciano: the eight districts are already preparing for the most awaited week of the year with a program of dinners and parties that will allow the locals to fully relive the typical emotions of the week of events.
